Who should consider High Speed BracesTM?

There is a large group of patients who may not be exposed to the idea of orthodontics, or may have the option dismissed too lightly due to the bias of their dentist. Dentists have been taught early on in dental school to be conservative and always offer what is best for the patient. However, after attending a number of company- sponsored educational programs that naturally promote the use of their answer to the field of cosmetic dentistry the dentist will begin to question his/her former ideas. Certainly many general dentists do not offer orthodontics at all, so if they have a substitute procedure like porcelain veneers which can address a problem such as crowded teeth they will have a difficult time passing on the opportunity to earn a living.

The same patient may be treated with a full set of veneers for $28,000-$40,000 US compared to a full orthodontic treatment for only $5-7,000.  Which treatment do you think will get the greater emphasis? The dentist may sub-consciously exaggerate the time needed for braces to sell the cosmetic makeover, or simply not know that High Speed Braces are an option.

Now with HSB and 3 Month BracesTM available in the UK, Canada and the USA, patients have a conservative and fast alternative.

A simple rule of thumb is if the dentist is recommending more than a couple veneers, and if the primary reason is to treat crooked teeth or gaps on otherwise healthy teeth you should certainly get a second opinion from an 3 Month Braces orthodontic practitioner.

Braces are also sometimes used PRIOR to veneer makeovers to reduce the amount of enamel loss needed, or to position the teeth in a more ideal situation before the veneers are fabricated. Veneers certainly will enhance your smile if your teeth are overly filled or discolored and do not respond to whitening. It is the over-use of veneers as a substitute for orthodontics that is the real shame in dentistry today.

If you have any of the following situations you may be a good candidate for faster braces:

·         One or more crooked teeth

·         One or more teeth did not develop (congenitally missing) and the space has closed up or needs to be adjusted before an artificial tooth is placed.

·         Large or small spaces between your teeth

·         Teeth that have tipped after losing a tooth

·         Teeth that have not erupted into your mouth (impacted)

·         One or more crowded teeth

·         Teeth that need veneers but they are moderately crooked, spaced, or crowded

·         An extra tooth (called a supernumerary tooth) needs to be removed and the space closed up after that.

·         Tooth sizes are a concern (width/length)

·         Tooth wear has changed the position of the teeth.

·         A “Bad Bite”(without jaw pain)

·         You had braces but didn’t wear your retainer enough so your teeth shifted (relapse)

·         You are a Teenager or older patient and want to make the biggest improvement in the shortest possible time.

The book 'Confessions of a Former Cosmetic Dentist' could be one of your best investments because it helps separate the 'hype' from the facts about cosmetic dental care. The truth is what many cosmetic dentists in the UK are doing may be inappropriate. To learn more, buy the book click here.

Note: Only about a 1/4 of people needing braces can be treated in 3-4 months, but almost everyone can be treated more rapidly using the new technology available today.
